Inspired by Dutch still-life paintings of the 17th century, these Photomontages use images of precious flower jewels and other elements. The composition is made entirely in Photoshop.
Flowers were loved not just for their beauty but their brevity, reminding this deeply Calvinist culture of the sin of vanity. Flower paintings were expressions of wealth and the stern lesson that wealth was transient and that there were more important matters to attend to.
